Becky's Hand Painted Bottle Lamp

Thank you Becky for sending in photos of your hand painted bottle lamp.

Here is what Becky told us in her email:

Here is a bottle light that I created for the DIY showoff. I painted a scene on it and when the lights are on you can see it show through the windows and the pathway and the clouds!!

WOW! We love your hand painted Bottle Lamp. I wonder how long it took to paint this scene, it looks very intricate.

Becky, do you have any tips you would like to share with our readers? For instance, did you use acrylic paints? Is there a certain brush you used? Do you sell your hand painted bottle lamps?

Feel free to leave your comments below for everyone to see.

    1. I am glad you like the bottle, it was my first try on a bottle and I am just learning to paint crafts. I first sprayed the bottle with rustoleum top coat and let it dry for 24 hours. Yes I used acrylic paints. The same kind used to paint wood crafts and I used a variety of little brushes. Some one stroke brushes, scruffy brush etc. and some just small painting brushes. I learned a lot while making this bottle and believe I could make it better if I could do it over. I tried several techniques and even used some Bob Ross techniques. It is a small scene so the flowers are in Bob’s style giving the illusion of flowers. It took me about a week to complete as I was learning and took time to study it and decide how to do the next step. After it was all done and dry I then used a very sharp small knife to cut into the clouds and pathway to allow more light to show and sprayed it with a clear top coat. I haven’t sold any yet but will be putting some in a local shop soon!! fingers crossed! Can’t wait to make more!!
